What gear keeps your stash fresh?

Airtight glass, a two-way humidity pack, and darkness. What degrades herb is losing its terpenes, the volatile oils that carry aroma and flavor, and they are lost to exactly three things: air exchange, dryness, and light. A sealed jar with a humidity pack in a drawer counters all three for a few dollars.

The humidity pack is the piece people skip and the piece that matters most. Two-way packs hold the jar's air at a fixed relative humidity, releasing or absorbing moisture as needed; 58 and 62 percent RH are the two standard points, with 58 the drier, crumblier end and 62 the stickier end, a preference call rather than a rule. Below the mid-50s, terpenes evaporate fast and the material turns to dust; above the high 60s you are in mold territory, which is the one direction you never want to err.

The container choice is mostly about what not to use. Plastic bags breathe, hold static that strips trichomes, and crush their contents; a bag is transport, not storage. Glass with a genuine gasket seal is the standard, and UV-filtering glass (the dark violet jars) adds real protection if the jar lives anywhere light reaches. Size the jar to the stash: a quarter-full jar holds three-quarters air, and every opening swaps that air anyway.

Two non-tips worth naming: the refrigerator is a humidity roller coaster that does more harm than good, and the freezer makes trichomes brittle enough to shatter off with handling. Room temperature in the dark beats both.
